3 Years Old!

My baby is three years old already, and I can't believe how fast it's gone by. I'm amazed at how much I loved Skyler when he was born and that with every day, I find something new to adore. The other day, I was going through clothes bins pulling out things of Skyler's that I'll be able to use for our baby girl. Skyler was wanting to open all the bins and was into everything in the closet. At one point, I snapped at him, and told him to get out of the baby room and let me continue what I was doing. He responded with a sorrowful sweet voice, "Ok mama. I just wanted to look at the baby stuff." Well of course, I melted. I took him into his room, and we read a book. Skyler let me rock him for a few minutes and he had his head on my huge tummy. I couldn't help but treasure the moment, because I know that soon those one-on-one quiet times with him will be hard to find. I feel so lucky that I've been able to stay home with him.

Before Skyler's birthday, we practiced blowing out candles with these Play-doh cakes.
Skyler got a bike for his birthday, and was so excited to see this in the kitchen when he woke up. He rode his new bike all around the kitchen numerous times. It was days later that we noticed the dents all over the kitchen left by the training wheels. Oops!

Skyler was a little too excited about getting birthday presents. He had watched me open presents the day before (on my birthday), and he knew that after you open one, there's usually another one. He badgered me all day for more presents. It was fun to see him so excited, but I don't think we'll talk about Christmas until it's Christmas morning. Skyler got some new train tracks so we could actually build something other than a circle. Carrie, Malia, and Breckin dropped by and brought Skyler some new pajamas and a spiderman three-wheeler.

Skyler helped me decorate his rocket cake. (I really need to take a cake-decorating class.)

Happy Birthday Skyler! We love you!
