Dad's Retirement Party

In June, my Dad retired after 36 years of teaching school. A long time to be in the same classroom at the same school. I'm proud of you, Dad! We surprised him with a get together at Maddox restaurant. I have no idea how my mom kept it a secret, but she did. No one got photos of his face when he walked in because we didn't know exactly when he would show up, but it was pretty funny. He said his first reaction was irritation that the hostess was going to seat them in the same room with all these loud people (his children). Even after we said "Surprise", it still took a few seconds for him to register what was going on. These first photos were taken before my dad and mom arrived.

We decorated the tables with blueprints, drafting tools, and photos of my dad.

Braiden was stag because Sharon was in Pennsylvania visiting her parents, and of course McKay and Jessica weren't there because they live in Boston right now.

Britton and Breckin were watching all the kids at Carrie's place. After lunch, we went back to her place, and had cake and ice cream. Carrie had a photo of my dad airbrushed onto edible paper for the cake.

For some reason, I couldn't get this photo to turn right-side-up.
