Blood Test

Someone from the lab called this morning and told us that Skyler scored a 55.8 on his RAST test (the blood test that checks antibodies in the blood triggered by the peanut protein.) She said the score was considered very high and that the doctor once again reminded us to keep him away from peanuts. Supposedly, the higher your score, the less likely you are to outgrow the allergy. I found this information on the internet regarding the RAST scores.

<0.35 KU/L : ALLERGEN LEVEL 0 - ABSENT OR UNDETECTABLE ALLERGEN

0.35 - 0.69 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 1 - LOW LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

0.70 - 3.49 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 2 - MODERATE LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

3.50 - 17.49 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 3 - HIGH LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

17.50 - 49.99 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 4 - VERY HIGH LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

50.0 - 100.00 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 5 - VERY HIGH LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

> 100.00 : ALLERGEN LEVEL 6 - EXTREMELY HIGH LEVEL OF ALLERGEN

Steve and I are still in shock. My little baby will never get to eat a peanut butter cookie or taste my mom's peanut brittle. It's hard.
